Updated: 7 days ago

Start: May 4th, 9:00AM

End: May 4th, 1:00PM

Join us on Saturday, May 4th, for a scenic 5-mile hike along the Betty B. Dearing Mountain Trail in Fryman Canyon Park! This beautiful loop trail winds through the eastern Santa Monica Mountains, offering lush canyon views, shaded stretches beneath oak trees, and sweeping vistas of the San Fernando Valley. With moderate elevation gain and a well-maintained path, this hike is great for anyone looking to enjoy a refreshing morning outdoors without leaving LA.

We'll be joined on the trail by Professor William Rafey, an Assistant Professor of Economics at UCLA. Professor Rafey's research focuses on the design and regulation of environmental markets, including water trading, wetland conservation, and clean technologies. His work at the intersection of economic theory and environmental policy offers a unique perspective on issues like sustainability and resource management—perfect topics to explore while out on the trail.
