11/14: Josephine Peak via Colby Canyon Trail w/ Anthony Friscia and Michelle Rensel

Start: November 14, 2021 8:00 am

End: November 14, 2021 3:00 pm

Come tackle the top-rated trail in the San Gabriel Mountains! Join us for this awesome 7.9 mile hike through the lush Colby Canyon to Josephine Peak, where we will get amazing views of Strawberry Peak and the surrounding San Gabriel Mountains. The trail has a total elevation gain of 2,116 feet. This is a great opportunity to escape to the mountains for a day with two amazing professors and a fun group of students.

As mentioned above, this hike will feature not just one, but two professors! Both of these professors are favorites among Peaks & Professors hikers, so you don't want to miss this. Dr. Anthony Friscia is an evolutionary paleontologist who serves as the Director of the UCLA Cluster Program and an Associate Adjunct Professor in the Department of Integrative Biology and Physiology. He has taught several courses, including CLUSTER 70A/B/CW, PHYSCI 13, PHYSCI 107, PHYSCI 108, and PHYSCI 153. We will also be joined by Dr. Michelle Rensel, who is a behavioral endocrinologist that has taught several courses within UCLA's Institute for Society and Genetics, including CLUSTER M71A/B/CW, SocGen/SOCIOL M144, SocGen M102, and SocGen 108.
